A remote Lakeland farmhouse, high on the fellside was in need of significant modernisation and repair before it could be occupied by its new owners. Retaining the character and charm of the cottage was essential to the design brief so intervention was kept to an absolute minimal and JCA took time to understand the history and feel of the existing building before setting about the work to refurbish the property.
The external cement render was removed and the client decided they did not want it replaced so the walls were re-pointed.
