Updating our Practical Building Conservation Knowledge

Practice Director and conservation Architect Dearbhail Keating has recently signed up to the Professional Development Diploma in Historic Building Conservation and Repair at West Dean College in Sussex.

The Diploma will see Dearbhail travel to Sussex to complete 10 modules in practical building conservation. The modules are residential and allow for participants to experience active building conservation through hands on work.

Seven compulsory Building Conservation Masterclasses will be completed and these include:-

  • Conservation and Repair of Architectural and Structural Metalwork
  • Conservation and Repair of Plasters and Renders
  • The Structural Repair of Historic Buildings
  • Conservation and Repair of Brick and Flint Masonry
  • Conservation and Repair of Timber
  • Conservation and Repair of Stone Masonry
  • Mortars for Repair and Conservation

In addition Dearbhail will select a further three Building Conservation Masterclasses, specific to her own personal subject choice.

The first Masterclass is Conservation and Repair of Renders, and will take place in late May.
