On Friday Dearbhail attend the 2024 Civic Trust Awards held at The Concorde Conference Centre, Altringham. The Civic Trust Awards was established in 1959 to recognise outstanding architecture, planning and design in the built environment.
In 2014 the AABC Conservation Award was established and awarded to projects which demonstrate the highest standard of historic building conservation. Dearbhail has been on the judging panel of the Civic Trust AABC Conservation Awards since 2019 and this year was invited to present the award to the winning projects and those highly commended.
Speaking about the judging process Dearbhail says: ‘Once again, the judging process for the AABC Conservation Award has been a real privilege for the panel. Many hours have been spent analysing the submitted drawings and information and we have enjoyed debating the nuances and successes of each project. Arriving at a decision is never easy but once again we have reached our conclusion and are delighted to have awarded 9 projects with an AABC Conservation Award; three winners and six highly commended. The three winners are very different, but each project displayed the very highest standards of conservation. The quality of the submissions was exemplary and clearly articulated the intentions of the design team.’
